02/22/2007 - Detroit, MI (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Henrik Zetterberg's pair of third-period goals sent Detroit to a 4-2 win over Chicago at Joe Louis Arena.
Pavel Datsyuk netted a goal and an assist for the Red Wings, who have won four of their last five. Kris Draper also tallied, and Dominik Hasek stopped 26 shots for his 32nd win of the year.
The win made it 13 consecutive victories on home ice for the Red Wings, one game shy of their franchise-record streak set in the 1964-65 season.
Detroit also climbed back into first place in the Central Division, one point ahead of idle Nashville, and leaped over the Predators to claim the best point total in the Western Conference with 84.
Duncan Keith registered two assists, Bryan Smolinski had a goal and a helper, while Radim Vrbata also scored for the Blackhawks, losers in five of six.
Nikolai Khabibulin made 31 saves in the loss, his third against Detroit in three starts.
Zetterberg stepped up to give the Wings a 3-2 advantage with 6:22 left in regulation. On a 3-on-2 rush, Datsyuk's cross-ice pass ticked off a Chicago backchecker and found the super Swede alone on the left side. With Khabibulin down expecting a shot, Zetterberg lifted the puck into a half-empty cage for his team-leading 31st goal.
He followed that with his 32nd, an empty-netter off a failed clearing attempt by Hawks defenseman Adrian Aucoin just 38 seconds before the buzzer for the 4-2 final.
6:24 into the first, the Hawks took a 1-0 lead when Keith's left circle drive was redirected home by Vrbata, who cruised through the slot a step ahead of a Detroit defender.
Draper tied the game at 6:34 of the second when he took Johan Franzen's feed from behind the net, fired just below the goal line, and found room through Khabibulin.
Datsyuk netted the go-ahead goal at 9:17 of the third while the Wings were shorthanded. From a left circle faceoff win by the Hawks, he intercepted a weak cross-ice pass from Aucoin at the left point, raced the length of the ice, and slid a shot through Khabibulin. The tally was the 100th in the speedy Russian's career.
However, Chicago responded to knot the game 2-2 only 89 seconds later, as Smolinski's knuckling blast from the right circle snuck through Hasek on the short side. From that point, the Red Wings owned the ice and skated away with a two-goal victory.
